Ingredients
Every ingredient in a Meeju bottle, explained in plain English. No jargon, nothing left off the list. If you want to know why something is in there, you shouldn't have to go looking.
The ones doing the caring
The gentle part. These are what make bath time feel soft.
A gentle flower extract, traditionally used to help soothe and comfort delicate skin.
Known for its soothing qualities. Helps skin and scalp feel calm, fresh and cared for, without heavy residue.
Helps attract and hold onto moisture, so skin and hair feel soft rather than tight after washing.
Inspired by rice-based Korean skincare rituals. A lightweight plant protein that softens the lather and helps condition for a smooth feel.
A calming botanical, chosen to complement the gentle approach of both formulas.
A gentle grain extract, long used for comfort on skin and scalps.
A plant oil that helps skin and hair feel soft and comfortable after cleansing.
A humectant, which means it draws moisture towards the skin. One of the most widely used gentle moisturising ingredients there is.
Helps hair hold onto moisture and feel softer to comb through.
The ones doing the cleaning
What makes the lather. Both are coconut-derived and far milder than the sulphates in many washes.
A plant-derived cleanser made from coconut and palm kernel. It's what creates the soft lather.
A coconut-derived cleanser that works alongside the glucoside to soften the formula and keep the lather mild.
The ones keeping it safe and stable
This is the part most brands don't explain. These aren't fillers, and they're not there to cut corners. They're what keeps the product safe in your bathroom.
Food-grade preservatives, the same kind used in things you eat. Any water-based product needs preservation, otherwise bacteria and mould start growing once the bottle is opened and in a steamy bathroom. Leaving them out wouldn't make Meeju gentler, it would make it unsafe.
Used in small amounts to balance pH, so each formula sits in the range that's kind to little skin.
A natural thickener made by fermenting sugar. It gives the formula its texture, so it doesn't run straight off your hands.
Used to adjust how thick the formula is.
The base of both formulas.
What we leave out
Neither formula contains:
- Sulphates (SLS and SLES)
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Synthetic fragrance or parfum
- Essential oils
- Artificial colours
- Silicones
- Mineral oil, petrolatum or paraffin
- Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives
- Drying alcohols
- Soy or dairy
- Animal-derived ingredients — both are vegan
We've skipped added fragrance altogether. Fragrance is one of the more common sources of irritation for sensitive skin, and bath time doesn't need perfume.
Two things worth knowing. Both formulas contain coconut-derived ingredients — coconut isn't a true tree nut and most people with nut allergies tolerate it, but check with your doctor if your child has a diagnosed nut allergy. Tangle Tamer Shampoo contains oat, so it isn't gluten-free; Bubbly Bub Body Wash contains no oat or gluten.
